Already transformed by
the action and pH of the
sea, this sea glass is,
in a sense, transformed
again when I focus on
it in a particular way,
change the scale, or
capture some fleeting
moment of vitality.
I have been studying
prized collections of sea
glass for 12 years.
Growing up I loved the
shore but for some reason
sea glass was not plentiful
where I was. I came in
by the back door when
Richard LaMotte asked me
to photograph for his first
book, Pure Sea Glass.
